"Blue Line into UTC"
Presentation will include the status of the project, adverse conditions encountered, difficulties in construction, lessons learned so far, projected timeline, working with the City, Caltrans, VA, and UCSD.

SANDAG
BIO: A native San Diegan, Ramon Ruelas went to work at Caltrans District 11 immediately after graduating from SDSU. He worked at Caltrans for over 16 years until 2001 when he began working at MTDB. Ramon transitioned over to SANDAG in 2003 as the result of legislation that consolidated the project planning and development functions of the two county transit agencies to SANDAG.
The focus of Ramon's career has been primarily within the Construction and Project Management fields with the responsibilities of managing a team of staff and consultants in the delivery of several transportation related projects within the San Diego Region, some of which include:
-- The Mid-Coast Light Rail Extension
-- LOSSAN Rail Corridor Improvements
-- South Bay Bus Rapid Transit
-- Mid-City BRT
-- Blue and Orange Line Trolley Renewal Program
-- Replacement of the Santa Margarita River Railroad Bridge
-- Grantville and La Mesa Segment of the Mission Valley East Light Rail Extension
-- Extension of I-15 through the mid-city along 40th Street
-- Seismic Retrofit of the Coronado Bay Bridge
-- Completion of the Sweetwater River Flood Control Channel and SR-54 between I-5 and I-805
-- Widening and realignment of SR-54 from I-805 to Woodman Avenue
-- Widening and realignment of SR-76 from Oceanside to I-15
For the past 7+/- years, Ramon has been SANDAG's Principal Construction Engineer responsible for overseeing the management of the SANDAG Construction Program, including 8 ongoing Construction Management Consultant Contracts and nearly $1.4 Billion worth of ongoing construction contracts.
