Jazz @ The Dance Hall: Chris Klaxton / Peter Herman Quartet
Seacoast area trumpeter Chris Klaxton and Portland area guitarist Peter Herman are not only steeped in tradition (Herman frequently hailed as the stylistic progeny of guitar legend Lenny Breau, and Klaxton a disciple of the late, great, Clark Terry), they also bring a fresh and modern sound to the many jazz standards, classical selections, hymns, and pop favorites arranged for their duo / quartet collaborations.
Their collective sound is warm, focused, and imbued with a tenderness that is all too rare. Commanding the athleticism necessary to navigate classic bebop fare yet displaying an uncanny sensitivity, Klaxton and Herman are sure to provide a varied program, an inviting atmosphere, and an experience all music lovers can enjoy.
