San Francisco Conservatory Chorus Calvary Chapel Choir Ragnar Bolin, Eric Choate, Michael Conley, conductors Brahms - Warum ist das Licht gegeben? Fauré - Cantique de Jean Racine David Conte - September Sun Arvo Pärt - Passio (St. John Passion) Instrumentalists along with the chorus from the San Francisco Conservatory join forces with the Calvary Chapel Choir to present a special Lenten concert featuring Estonian composer Arvo Pärt's stunning setting of the Passion according to St. John, "Passio" for chorus, soloists, and chamber ensemble. Also on the program is David Conte's emotional and elegant tribute to those who perished on September 11th, 2001, "September Sun," for chorus and string orchestra, along with two shorter masterpieces of the repertoire, Brahms' challenging acappella motet, "Warum ist das Licht gegeben?" and Fauré's beloved "Cantique de Jean Racine." An immersive and emotional musical Lenten journey. Students attend free (with I.D.)
