In the Bleak Midwinter
Explore the wintry cityscape of Toronto through the eyes of a homeless beggar, searching for a place to keep warm. An audience immersive concert and reception, 'In the Bleak Midwinter' will take you on a snowy journey through the evolution of music--featuring a charming selection of songs and poetry from the early 1800s to today. Blending powerful vocals with original theatre, the program weaves through a young woman's hopeful daydreams as winter reaches its bitter peak, inviting performers and audiences alike to come in from the cold. In the bleak midwinter, let music bring you warmth.

About Opera by Request:
At Opera by Request we perform all manner of operatic repertoire in concert format, not such an unusual concept. The twist is that the repertoire is decided by the participants, not the company directorate.
For singers, we are an opportunity to learn and perform a role for the first time in a comfortable and supportive environment. For audiences, we present affordable concert performances by singers in the roles that most inspire them.
Two or more singers approach the director with a project suggestion. If the director is agreeable, and a mutually satisfactory date can be found, the singers and director form a cooperative whereby the remainder of the cast and a rehearsal schedule is created.
An hourly fee is assessed for coachings and rehearsals, excluding the dress rehearsal and performance, which are offered at no charge. The cast shares in the net box office proceeds, after all costs (hall rental, printing, other costs mutually agreed upon) are recovered.

About Lunar Bloom:
Lunar Bloom is an all female vocal folk trio comprised of Kelly McNamee, Jocelyn Regina and Brittany Rae Robinson. Their songs are written collaboratively, with each voice weaving seamlessly in and out of harmony. The three Blooms met nearly ten years ago at Sheridan College whilst studying in the prestigious Music-Theatre Program. While at school they collaborated on one another's songs, and began officially writing as a trio in the past year. Each a songwriter in their own respect, they bring different skills and perspective to every piece, creating something entirely new. Pulling inspiration from other female artists, their sound has the quirkiness of Regina Spektor, the sweet innocence of Dala, and the witchy appeal of Florence and the Machine. Their songs have dynamic range, often times with sparse acoustic accompaniment, to give focus to the intricate three-part harmonies that blend deliciously and leave you wanting more.
