The Jameson Singers present
Ein deutsches Requiem
by Johannes Brahms
Join the Jameson Singers for their performance of Johannes Brahms's masterwork Ein deutsches Requiem. Chosen by Dr. Jameson Marvin as his final project conducting the Jameson Singers, this profound work will enrich our emotions through Brahms's expressive nuances, haunting harmonies, and intricate contrapuntal textures. Brahms referred to this as a "Human Requiem", choosing words of solace, peace, and hope drawn from his studies of the Old and New Testaments of the German Lutheran Bible.
Now in his fiftieth year as a choral conductor and praised by the Boston Globe as a "musician of consummate mastery", Dr. Marvin was Director of Choral Activities at Harvard University from 1978 to 2010. He founded the Jameson Singers in 2010, and under his leadership they have become one of the premier choruses in the Boston area. Please join us for this memorable musical send-off.
