Tess Dunn / T3TRA Lightswitch Album Release Show
Tess Dunn AKA T3TRA returns to Santa Cruz with new music and an old soul.
Once hailed as Santa Cruzs reigning princess of pop, Tess Dunn returns to her hometown on Saturday March 16th, with new music to share at her album release show at Kuumbwa Jazz Center.
A seven-year veteran of West Coast Vans Warped Tour performances Tess is soon to release her fifth album of original alt-pop music. Since early 2016, Tess has performed and released music under the name T3TRA, a choice she says liberated her from past expectations and demons. Reviewers and fans continue to describe her as fearless, a creative wunderkind, a dynamic performer, a passionate advocate, and a compelling example of gritty girl power.
Thanks to her take-no-prisoners lust for life in the face of intense life-threatening health challenges, Tess has been the focus of Vans Off the Wall TV and numerous articles and podcasts. She has toured the West Coast, and is endorsed by Onstage Stands and Lanikai Ukuleles.
Tess first T3TRA release, Polarity, marked a genre shift that moved beyond electro/synthpop thanks to deep sonic undercurrents and brutally honest lyrics. This sometimes painful honesty continues with her soon to be released EP, Lightswitch.
Lightswitch, recorded with Jake Ward at Jakes Lab, continues in the darker electropop vein, while emanating the signature Tess Dunn lyrical quality that has won her many devoted fans. Under the cloak of T3TRA, Tess is able to explore themes of love, lust and loss with an unwavering eye. As she notes about her lyrics, I write songs about the things nobody and everybody likes to talk about.
With driving beats, hints of retro synth and Tess signature raspy vocals, T3TRAs music provides a strong dose of danceable angst.
