Sole on new live show & current tour:
"Fresh off the heels of a successful European tour that hit France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Greece & Austria I am back in the Empire. The European tour concluded in Greece, where I spent a week visiting squats & organizers and learning about how communities are responding to austerity and fascism in Athens. The Athens show was an a squatted park, with armed anti-fascist guards patrolling the entrances and was attended by over 1500 people. The last show of the tour was in Thessalonoki @ YfaNet, a former Garment factory converted to be the largest squat in the northern hemisphere. Now I'm rocking the homeland with renewed vigor, a new album, and a new live aesthetic.
After "sole and the skyrider band" decided to go on hiatus I took some what of a break from touring. This was in part because I got so swept up in activism & home life that I felt my time was better spent in Denver and this was in part because after suing anticon for my masters back I haven't had the financial need to go on tour. I have never been much for stage theatrics and always just wanted to play my songs and give people a good show. I've toured with post rock bands, sampler/dj set ups, an electric cello, until finally for both economic and aesthetic reasons i switched to a one man ableton/midi show. Although I loved the freedom of using ableton, after my last tour I decided I could no longer play "rap karaoke" shows anymore. I have always enjoyed making beats, creating melodic swells, ambiance, or what i call the "godspeed wall of noise", and this is something i have always strived for when i played with a live band, and because i'm not a "real musician" i never thought that what i was doing for fun in the studio would fly on stage. this is an absurd thought, it is the very essence of music and the result is a unique new take on the one man rap show that combines elements of hip-hop, punk, electronica, post rock & noise." -sole
