Island Oasis Ensemble - Atherton Summer Season 2013
For anyone who thinks the Atherton has pretty much explored every kind of music or dance, the upcoming debut of The Island Oasis Ensemble is a definite groundbreaker. It will feature belly dancers Masayo and Kalae, accompanied by live music. The new style of Tribal Fusion, a development that combines traditional dance styles with hip-hop, breakdance and other new moves, will be presented along with traditional styles.
The Island Oasis Ensemble was formed two years ago to support local belly dancers wanting to perform with live music. The Ensemble's repertoire includes classic Egyptian selections (such as Aziza and Tamr Henna), Turkish, Armenian, Persian and Roma folk music, as well as original pieces in the modern Tribal Fusion style.
