The Zan Stewart/ Adam Gay Duo
The Zan Stewart-Adam Gay Duo comes out of Zan's Quartet, of which Adam is a core member. An outstanding bassist with an agile arco technique and a keen improvisatory imagination, Adam is a top-call bassist on the San Francisco Bay area jazz scene. He plays with such ace artists as saxophonists Noel Jewkes and Todd Dickow, and is also the principal bassist with the San Francisco Civic Symphony. Zan is a warm-toned tenor saxophonist out of the Sonny Rollins school who has played with many top drawer jazz artists, among them drummer Jimmy Cobb, pianist Rob Schneiderman, and guitarist Dave Stryker. The duo offers everything from jazz classics to originals and wide-open pieces.
