THE BEAVER TRILOGY (2000)

A chance encounter in a parking lot in 1979 led to Harris' obsession with Salt Lake City-based Olivia Newton-John impersonator Groovin' Gary. Harris documented Gary's performance at a local talent show and returned to the footage for two reenactments: the first in 1981 starring Sean Penn, the second in 1985 starring Crispin Glover. Heartfelt, bizarre, and truly unforgettable stuff, all three shorts were compiled in 2000 for a screening at Lincoln Center.

This film is screening as part of a two-day retrospective of the films of Trent Harris:
