David Nagler: "Allies & Enemies"
"Allies & Enemies" will showcase the witty, character-driven original songs of David Nagler. The show will draw on material from Nagler's concept pieces The Appointees (informed and provoked by Trump cabinet members) and Carl Sandburg's Chicago Poems (based on Sandburg's 100-year-old poems), in addition to new and old songs. The performance will feature Nagler on piano, guitar, and vocals, accompanied by Andrew Hall on upright bass, along with special guests including longtime collaborator Xavier and Pangea regular Tammy Faye Starlite.
David Nagler is a Brooklyn-based musician, singer, and songwriter. In addition to playing live and/or recording with Jeff Tweedy, Okkervil River, the Mekons, Mark Eitzel, Bridget St. John, Tammy Faye Starlite, Justin Sayre, and Tanya Donelly, he is the founder and frontperson for NY metropolitan area pop group Nova Social and the host of The Oracle Show at Sid Golds Request Room. As musical director for Wesley Stace's Cabinet of Wonders, Nagler has performed with over 125 different artists including Joan Baez, Aaron Neville, Rosanne Cash, Fred Armisen, Steve Earle, Moby, Andrew Bird, and Stephin Merritt (of The Magnetic Fields).
"Because of his affability and boundless talent, Nagler has gone from playing liberally with the indie rock crowd to playing with a lot of people who are at the forefront of contemporary American music." -Rick Moody, The Rumpus

Downtown's intimate supper-club Pangea is the ultimate in alt, playing home to some of the best in alt cabaret. The New York Times recently called it "a bohemian oasis not unlike the fabled Max's Kansas City from days gone by."
