A Newborn Child: Cantatas and Carols for Christmas
The 2008 Christmas Concert, "A Newborn Child: Cantatas and Carols for Christmas" will be performed by the Southern Delaware Choral Society and feature music from the Baroque era including works by Tunder, Ahle, Erlebach, Buxtehude and Monteverdi with traditional carols. There will be two performances. The first will be on Saturday, December 13th at 7pm at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Seaford, DE. On December 14th at 3pm the concert will be hosted by St. Edmond's Roman Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
In 2007 the Southern Delaware Choral Society performed Handel's Messiah to a near "sell-out" crowd of approximately 800 people. A large SDCS chorus was accompanied by the Mid Atlantic Symphony and four professional soloists. A two CD set of the Messiah concert is available for $15.
