Screen Queen Presents is a Monday night queer film series hosted by Josh Vogelsong at Suns Cinema. Guests can expect to see a wide range of both mainstream & underground selections, working to cover the entire film & queer spectrum.
DRAG 101! Were giving the children an education in pre-reality TV gender illusion, henny! Explore lost eras of drag with a double feature of vintage docs. One chronicles the late 60s ball scene, and the second celebrates the nationwide drag explosion of the mid-90s!
THE QUEEN

In 1967, New York City is host to the Miss All-American Camp Beauty Pageant. This documentary from Frank Simon takes a look behind the scenes, transporting the viewer into rehearsals and dressing rooms as the drag queen subculture prepares for this big national beauty contest. Jack/Sabrina is the master/mistress of ceremonies, and his protégé, Richard/Miss Harlow, is in the competition. But, as the pageant approaches, the glamorous contestants veer from camaraderie to tension.

A joyful look into the lives of some of the most famous drag queens of the 90s: Varla Jean Merman, Candis Cayne, Lady Bunny, Charles Busch, Charles Pierce, and Lypsinka! These frocked out femmes of fashion light up the screen! Director Patti Kaplan travels to NYC, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Philadelphia, getting sassy interviews and live action footage of performances and all the behind the scenes chaos!
