Waukegan Symphony Orchestra - Music in the Roaring 20s
Join the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra for its second concert of the season, titled Music in the Roaring 20s, with pieces from Gershwin, Shostakovich, Bartok, and Lecuona on Sunday, December 2 at 4pm at Waukegan High Schools Trapp Auditorium, Brookside Campus.

The Waukegan Symphony Orchestra will open with Bartoks Romanian Dances and close the first half with Dmitri Shostakovichs First Symphony. Shostakovich composed the symphony at the age of 19. The unique piece showcases all sections of the symphony while keeping the audience on their edge of their seats.

The second half opens with Malaguena, by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona. This lively piece is a fan favorite that brings visions of flamenco dancers. Closing out the concert is George Gershwins iconic Rhapsody in Blue featuring Andrew C. Russo on piano.

This concert features guest conductor Alexander Platt. Platt is one of the four finalists auditioning to be the next director of the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra.
