Whiteside Theatre's annual Bob Newton Family Matinee: Jungle Book
When Bob Newton was a young boy, he came to the Whiteside with his parents to watch movies. He was so impacted by the experience of seeing this experience that he has generousely set up a foundation to allow us to show a movie every December with free admission for kids under 12.
This year, we present Disney Picture's The Jungle Book. Disney animation inspired by Rudyard Kipling's "Mowgli" story. Mowgli is a boy who has been raised by wolves in the Indian jungle. When the wolves hear that the fierce tiger, Shere Khan, is nearby, they decide to send Mowgli to a local "man-village". On his way to the village, Mowgli meets many animal characters in this musical tale. When Shere Khan learns of Mowgli's presence, he tracks him down.
