Our guest artist, Saxophonist improviser and composer Andy Voelker, has been aptly called a Lifer in the world of jazz. His dedication to the roots of jazz, the real time application of past and present jazz styles, and the furthering of jazz as an art form remain Andys top priorities. Having grown up on the New Jersey shore surrounded by a family full of music lovers, artists, and writers Andy developed early appreciation for what is good music. Andy took up the saxophone in grade school band and never looked back. Moving to Boston to attend Berklee College of music, Andy stayed in Boston and continued his education on the bandstand. Andy was a pivotal member of the Matt Murphys Music in Brookline having both co-lead the weekly jam session and lead his own original groups at Matts - during the heyday of one of Bostons most notable music scenes. Presently Andy is playing regularly at The Mad Monkfish and is playing and recording with Clear Audience  a group he co-leads with his cohorts from the Murphys days. Andy is staying busy as one of Bostons real deal jazz Saxophonists, hard at work performing around the greater Boston areas music venues bringing his forward thinking, soulful sound, and thoughtful improvisations to the present day music appreciators.

The legendary jazz pianist Harvey Diamond has graced the Boston area for decades with his music which is at once both deeply intricate and deeply emotional to even the most casual listener. Over the years he has performed across the U.S. and in Europe. among Lennie Tristano's last students in the 1970's, and has done concert appearances with NEA Jazz Masters Sheila Jordan, Dave Liebman, and Art Farmer, and also with Charles Neville, Herb Pomeroy, Harvie S, Jay Clayton, Joe Hunt, Don Alias, Jason Palmer, Cameron Brown, Marc Johnson, Marcus McLaurine, and many others. He has released his second CD as a leader, Fair Weather, with Cameron Brown. This follows is first CD, The Harvey Diamond Trio. Cameron Brown says of Harvey, "Harvey Diamond is a unique and brilliant musician: a pianist's pianist with a remarkable touch, unimpeachable technique and enormous dynamic range. A creative and unpredictable improvisor, Harvey's roots go back to Lennie Tristano and Bill Evans, spiced with just a touch of Cecil Taylor. He draws the audience into his world and holds it spellbound."

Bassist Jon Dreyer performs regularly with Harvey Diamond, and with pianist/saxophonist/bandleader/composer James Merenda, both as a member of his band TickleJuice and also in more mainstream jazz settings. He has also performed with Adam Janjigian, Doug Johnson, Yoko Miwa, Hankus Netsky, Alan Rowe, Mark Shilansky, Alexei Tsiganov, Frank Wilkins, George Garzone, Grace Kelly, Roy Nathanson, Sheila Jordan, Dominique Eade, Jason Palmer, Phil Grenadier, Mike Connors, Gillian DeLear, Dave Fox, Scott Goulding, Joe Hunt, Steve Langone, Miki Matsuki, Austin McMahon, and most of the rest of the Boston jazz community. Mostly self-taught on bass, he has studied with Richard Davis, Cameron Brown, Marcus McLaurine, Harvey Diamond, and Ran Blake.

For the past twenty five years, drummer Steve Langone has been performing in clubs, festivals and recording studios. His versatility has allowed him to work in many different genres of music.
