Born in Georgetown, Guyana and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jahdan Blakkamoore has long made a name for himself as a gifted and inspiring Reggae/Dancehall/Hip Hop/Dubstep artist - both nationally and internationally. His music has been described as "Urban World Music with a message." Jahdan's sense of melody, superb song writing skills and ability to effortlessly cross over genres has solidified his status as a relevant artist in the music industry.
In 2009 Blakkamoore released the hit single 'The General', followed by his debut solo album, 'Buzzrock Warrior'. The album was voted 'Best Reggae Album of the year' on iTunes. In 2010 he followed up with his second solo album, 'Babylon Nightmare'. Jahdan is not only a contributing writer for the new album 'Reincarnated' by Snoop Lion AKA Snoop Dogg, he's a featured artist on two of the album's songs "Boulevard" and "Harder Times". Set for release on April 23rd 2013, the album features some of the best artists in the in the industry. He is currently working on songs for his forthcoming solo album 'Upward Spiral' while doing featured performances throughout North America.
Not just a solo artist, Jahdan is also a part of the group 'Noble Society'. The group has been acclaimed as 'kings of urban reggae'. A collective of international musicians, in October 2011 they released their latest album, 'PPM Powerful Painful Music', a mix of Hip-Hop and Dancehall with Dubstep beats and Flamenco melodies. The album was followed by a successful European tour. A fan favorite on the album, "Living the Life" has been remixed by dub and base veterans Sub Atomic Sound System. A dubstep version of the album is scheduled for release in spring 2013.
His collaborations have been second to none, and in the Reggae and Roots scene Jahdan has worked with top artists such as Lutan Fyah and Lee 'Scratch' Perry. 'Cash Flow', his release with Diplo and Switch on their groundbreaking 'Major Lazer' project, was hailed as one of the standout tracks of the album. He also wrote the song "Struggla" featured on Matisyahu's album 'Light'.
In Hip-Hop circles, he has recorded with stalwarts like DJ Premier, Afu Ra, Boot Camp Click and Dead Prez. His verse on the hook of Smiff N Wesson's classic, "Sound Bwoy Buriell" is still played regularly in clubs and on radio throwback sets around the world.
Jahdan is renowned for his powerful vocals and commanding stage shows, which he has delivered around the world, from Argentina to Poland, Switzerland, and Germany with many more places to come.
