Ruby Pines & Anna and the Underbelly
Portland-based band the Ruby Pines Moorea Masa and Michael Backus have been playing together since 2009.
Moorea has been attending music school in Liverpool, and has now moved back to Portland to record the band's first full-length studio album due this summer! The pair perform mostly as a duo, but are frequently joined by a choir made up of some of their closest musician friends of up to 25 people! Ranging in influences from Etta James to Fleet Foxes, Townes Van Zandt to Head and the Heart, the Ruby Pines' music undeniably has a timeless feel to it.
Anna and the Underbelly mixes small-town melodies with words found on sidewalks of the city. Each song is a gently written attempt to sort out the reasons behind the people and places that hold us.
