Street Requiem was composed in Melbourne, Australia, by Kathleen McGuire, Andy Payne and Jonathon Welch in 2014 to impact homelessness through the arts.
The complete ten-movement work will be performed on Thursday,
March 21, 2019, 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Hearts Nims Center at 4301 St. Charles Avenue. The music will be interspersed with testimonials of those that have lifted themselves out of homelessness into a positive living experience.
"Symphony Chorus of New Orleans, along with the Delgado Chorus, will perform this concert in an effort to bring a sense of peace, remembrance and hope to those struggling to come to terms with poverty, mental illness, and violence on the streets of New Orleans," according to Music Director, Steven Edwards.
This fund-raising concert is organized by SCNO, Ozanam Inn, & Hotel Hope.
