100th Armistice Anniversary Concert
Under the direction of Pete Nowlen, Camerata California Chamber Choir and Orchestra performs Vaughan Williams extraordinary Dona Nobis Pacem PLUS a multi-media tribute to "Mother" Ernestine Schumann-Heink, the Bohemian born opera star whose love for her adopted country united America during WW 1. Madam Schumann-Heink's own gown will be worn by Zoila Munoz as she reenacts this great star and patriot in a presentation that will also include historic audio and video, as well as sing-alongs and performances of popular WW 1 songs. Madam Schumann-Heink's name was a household word in the United States. She had sons fighting on both sides of the war - but used her talents and fame to support and inspire the American troops and people. Meet this amazing woman and learn her story!
Vaughan Williams wrote his Dona Nobis Pacem in an effort to pull the world away from WW II. The profound and moving work is shaped by Vaughan Williams' own service in the ambulance corps during the WW I.
