EARTHSONGS: NEW DAYS (Mission Santa Clara de Asis)
We conclude our 23rd season with hope for better tomorrow by bringing awareness to the horrific issue of human trafficking in the Bay Area and the world. We shall respond with music that reminds us of our own power to affect change! The concert will support The Bay Area Anti-Trafficking Coalition: an organization that believes ...eradication [of human trafficking] is possible only when the collective impact of individuals and groups comes to bear upon this multifaceted issue. As we mobilize the public to engage the issue, we envision a slave-free San Francisco Bay Area and beyond."
Repertoire will feature music from around the globe, ranging from modern classics such as Joshua Shanks amazing rules to live by (written for The Choral Project in celebration of its 20th anniversary), Sarah Hopkins Past Life Melodies (an other-worldly song that features overtone singing), to contemporary pop tunes, such as the acappella setting of Three Dog Nights Shambala. Audience favorites Frank Tichellis There Will Be Rest, John Davids You Are the New Day, and Daniel Hughes Babethandaza (complete with full-chorus choreography) will round out this meaningful concert.
