Cheah Chan Duo presents "Seeds of Peace"
Cheah Chan Duo is thrilled to kick off its highly anticipated tenth season with the dual celebrations of the 95th birthday of Ned Rorem and the centenary of Armistice Day. Two song cycles by Rorem anchor the program: the haunting "War Scenes" with settings by Walt Whitman (whose bicentennial is coming up in 2019) and the exquisite "Poèmes pour la paix" based on 15th and 16th century French poems. Music by Leonard Bernstein, Abbie Betinis, Fryderyk Chopin, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Robert Savage, and Trevor Weston round out the evening.
