Multicultural and genre-defying, Emi's unique jazz-inspired pop sound has been shaped
by her bi-cultural heritage born in Kyoto, Japan, and raised in Seattle. Her music is a refreshingly unique blend of jazz, pop, soul and much more.
At the age of six, Emi began playing classical piano and eventually expanded to jazz for the spontaneity it offered. In 2007, she won the Seattle-Kobe Jazz Vocalist Competition, a contest between the sister cities of Seattle and Kobe, Japan. Her win resulted in many
performances in Japan where she has a great following. She has released three albums Curious Creature, Passport (written solely in Japanese), Suitcase of Stones. Emi has performed at the Sundance Film Festival, been #1 on the Japanese jazz charts, and was the opening act for the Japanese tour of French-Israeli singer-songwriter Yael Naem. She has done a string of charity events to support Japan after the tsunami.
Please join us for an evening with Kitano Hotel in NY! There are two sessions. One session is from 8PM and second session is from 9:30PM.
Emi will have copies of her new unreleased (June 2013 in US) album, "Galaxy's Skirt".
