Navigating the New Economic Reality
Join us for an evening with local author, Richard Heinberg and inspiring local leaders as we discuss the future of economic development in the North Bay region.

Recent developments in economic theory challenge the notion that the continued growth of industrialized economies is either likely or desirable. Events such as the crash of 2008, the European debt crisis, accelerating climate change, and the ongoing run-up in oil prices add to speculation that the world economy is at a historic turning point. Richard Heinberg, author of ten books including the award-winning The End of Growth: Adapting to Our New Economic Reality, will survey three over-arching global trends that provide the context for local economic development and planning.

A panel discussion will follow Richard's talk featuring:
* Marc Armstrong, Director of the Public Banking Institute
* Ann Hancock, Director of the Climate Protection Campaign
* Stacey Lawson, CEO of Ygrene Energy Fund
