Tamir Hendelman and Larry Koonse Duo- PQ Sessions presents: Jazz Plus (Sherman Oaks home concert)
PQ Sessions present: Jazz Plus: Tamir and Friends with special guest guitarist Larry Koonse:
Pianist-composer Tamir Hendelman is joined by multifaceted jazz guitarist
Larry Koonse in an evening of jazz standards, improvisations and originals
in an artistic Sherman Oaks home featuring a masterfully rebuilt 1924
Louis XV Steinway known as the Purple Queen.
The duo will perform a 90-minute set at 7pm, followed by light snacks and
(non-alcoholic) refreshments. Doors open at 6:30pm.
Born into a musical family, Grammy-nominated guitarist Larry Koonse is a member of Billy Childs' landmark chamber sextet, has toured with Mel Torme, Bob Mintzer, Natalie Cole,
Hubert Laws, Percy Faith Orchestra, Tierney Sutton and more. He has been a featured
soloist with the LA Philharmonic and Philadelphia Orchestra and has recorded with Jimmy
Rowles, Larry Goldings, Ray Brown, Toots Thielemanns and many other great jazz artists.
He has been on the faculty of the California Institute of the Arts since 1990.
Pianist Tamir Hendelman is a long-time member of the Jeff Hamilton Trio and Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and leader of his own trio with two chart-topping releases
and has performed and recorded with vocalists Roberta Gambarini, Natalie Cole, Tierney Sutton and Barbra Streisand. He has performed Rhapsody in Blue with orchestra and has been on the faculty of the University of California Los Angeles since 2005.
