Promise of Green - A Yuletide Celebration of Music, Dance, and Visual Art
It started as a whimsical project between a mother and son whose ears were bleeding in response to yet another round of the same old holiday songs. Gaelen Billingsley, a long-time Seattle singer and writer, and her son Logan Billingsley, local drummer, pianist, composer and producer, began co-writing what they thought would be a fun winter side-project. But soon, the record took on a life of its own, and they enlisted internationally-touring songwriter, Camille Bloom, as a co-writer.
The three spent all last winter writing, arranging, and recording a full-length orchestrated Celtic-inspired holiday album in their recording studio Silo Studio (named so because it is built in a re-purposed grain silo on their farm in Port Orchard WA). It went so well that a new production company, The Silo 3 was born! On Sat. Dec 8th, 2018 The Silo 3 will celebrate the release of their first recording titled Promise of Green. Bringing together guest vocalists that include 12-year-old up and coming theater star, Maylie Gardner; Jacob Livingston, a 12-year veteran of the famous Seattle Dickens Carolers; as well as guest musicians from as far away as Tanzania. This evening will inspire and refresh your holiday spirit!
Promise of Green encompasses a larger vision than your typical CD Release show. The Silo 3 has invited respected Seattle Choreographer Laura Peterson to create 7 original pieces for the show with several of her dancers. Also, monoprints and collages by long-time Seattle Print Maker and Painter, Gare Sweany (studiogarett.com) will provide backdrops for the show. In addition, Garett, who is Gaelen's father and Logan's grandfather will be creating two original prints inspired by the record for use in the production. All in all, it's a mixed-media family affair! Come out to see live music and dance, showcasing a diverse cast of over 20 performers on the beautiful stage at The Broadway Performance Hall.
