Performances by Vanessa Lively,Ginger Leigh and Amy Atchley.
For a woman who thrives on jumping into the unknown with both feet, Vanessa Lively took an unusual approach to her new album, Uncovering Stones. She and her producer-husband, Jason, planned nearly every note before recording it which they did in their Austin home, with co-producer/engineer Keith Gary. The result is a compelling mix of tempos and styles filled with hints of urban, world, Latin, funk and pop that fully captures her compassionate nature and love of community. Uncovering Stones is, in fact, all about connecting. Vanessa even painted the album art beforehand on 42 canvas squares she sold individually to fund the 12-song disc. Lively describes its themes as "feeling other people's struggles and joys and being connected with them." After raking blueberries in Maine as a migrant farm worker and living in South America with her husband to do volunteer work in impoverished areas, she feels those connections deeply and when you listen, you will, too.
"Ginger Leigh has a voice so powerful and lyrics so visceral, you can't help but feel a little better about the world just listening to her. Her confident stage presence is both soothing and exhilarating. A prolific writer and unflappable performer" Origin Magazine (National USA Distribution) (Sep 01, 2011. "Leigh is a profound singer-songwriter-actress who has released 8 albums to date and toured the world. Ginger cares about the music and more so she cares about and touts other musicians. She never lets you down and always has made me feel entertained whenever I've seen her. Her personality and music are one in that passion empowers throughout every gig. I feel the need to sit up and take notice and those killer eyes she flashes at ya with a wink and smile make it easy to enjoy the experience." - Edge Ferranti, Houston Music Review (Dec 17, 2010)
A Houston-bred songstress, Amy Atchley returned to her Texas roots in 2004 after 4 years of songwriting and performing in New York City. While living there, she signed with The Eichner Entertainment Company (Mickey Eichner former VP of Columbia Records 20 years) who elevated her career and supported the independent release of her 2nd solo CD entitled Wish which was mixed & mastered at the Hit Factory. In 2007, Amy was a featured singer on Denise Rich's 80's hits compilation called The D Project where Amy performed her own renditions of Patti La Belle's Addicted to You & Mark Anthony's Do You Still Remember Me. Amy is an active commercial singer, nailing national and local jingles for Ebay, NYC lottery, Disney, Barbie, Mattel, Click Girls, and more. She has been selected as a performing artist at both SXSW & CMJ music conferences. Amy's latest release "Pretty Muse" (October, 2009) is her 4th release and contains an all-original lineup of music featuring her band of musicians who play with her regularly at venues like Momo's, Flipnotics, the Whip-in and Saxon Pub in Austin, TX.
