Matthew Morgan & the Lost Brigade, The Future Laureates, The South Carolina Broadcasters - (Buzzbin/Canton, OH) June 1st
Matthew Morgan and the Lost Brigade
Matthew Morgan and the Lost Brigade is a hard-working Chicago band that has made its mark on the local music scene and is now pushing farther into the Midwest. With the diversity of banjo and dulcimer alongside male and female vocal harmonies this band blends hopeful, upbeat rock with the deep reality of folk roots. MMLB is as "intense as whiskey with all the flavors of fine wine. Bombastic, upbeat pop/folk grabs audiences by the hand. It's a sweet slow dance..." (OnAxis Music).
The Future Laureates
With a successful presence at SXSW 2012, plus airplay on 140 college and community radio stations, The Future Laureates are celebrating with unabashed energy and triumph. Offering positive punk-rock energy with folk/pop musicianship, their sonic champagne is frothing and bubbling with the release of their third studio album, "Fortress Sessions". It is seriously full of fun. Since the release of their new record, the band has had their music talked about in blogs ranging from Music-Defined.com and Southside on the Town to Chicagoist.com, as well as a plethora of internet radio stations and podcasts.
The South Carolina Broadcasters
"Southern children going forward at top volume" is truly what this little mission band born in a bar-b-que joint on the side of the road is. The South Carolina Broadcasters are not to be missed. From heart stompin' love songs that'll bring tears to your eyes to rowdy gospel numbers that'll make you shout hallelujah there is a rare beauty and honesty in the trio's music. Ivy, Sarah, and David typify the essence of folk music and are without a doubt not revivalists. Be it an old standard out of the hymnal or a song from their own pen, their music is alive. The trio has shared the stage with Taj Mahal, Ricky Scaggs, and the Carolina Chocolate Drops and can be found touring the country and bringing their distinctive sound to a venue near you.
