PUGS & CROWS with Marin Patenaude
UNCLE!

On their fourth full-length album UNCLE!, Vancouver indie rock jazz art folk instrumentalists Pugs & Crows join forces with vocalist Marin Patenaude.

Patenaudes earthy, soulful voice coupled with the bands trademark cinematic pacing, melodicism, and gritty elegance transports the music to new heights.

The album also features a venerable line-up of guest musicians: Chris Gestrin (Moogs, electronics, string arrangements), Mike Schmidt (drums), Tony Wilson (guitar, harmonica, string arrangements), Josh Zubot (violin), John Kastelic (viola), Peggy Lee (cello), and Debra-Jean Creelman (vocals).

UNCLE! was produced by Chris Gestrin with Cole Schmidt and recorded by John Raham at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver.

MARIN PATENAUDE

With favourably raucous and precious moments, Marin Patenaude deftly stitches together an urban edge with the waving grasses of country folk. Layered, living and inspirited by wildness, Marins voice is strong. A purity in her lyrics pairs with the complexity of her composition, demonstrating poetic restraint and focus.  With the 2016 release of her debut album, the self-titled Marin Patenaude and the Follow Through, years of practice are distilled into a potent potion of Confessional Folk. The Follow Through features Cole Schmidt, Pete Schmitt, Peggy Lee and Skye Brooks of Vancouver, often joined buy other local treasures in the jazz/country/folk world of big feelings and risk taking.

ROXANNE NESBITT

Roxanne is a designer, musician and sound artist based in Vancouver, Canada. She is interested in the convergence of sound, design, and motion.

Roxanne has worked with choreographers Manuela Lucia Tessi, Sarah Fdili Alaoui, and the Good Women Dance Collective as a sound artist, composer and designer. These collaborations explored the design of large-scale spatial instruments that allow dancers to generate sound with their bodies. She also works with Vancouver/ Berlin based drummer Ben Brown on the on-going collaboration Mutual Instruments for Movement and Sound, where she designs and makes original percussion instruments that facilitate an unorthodox vocabulary of movement.

Roxanne performs regularly as a singer and musician in the audio-visual project graftician. Roxanne also works as a set designer for film. In 2016, she worked on the feature films Okja and Power Rangers in Vancouver.

In 2015, Roxanne completed a Masters of Architecture at the University of British Columbia. Previously, she studied double bass in Edmonton completing a bachelor of Music at the University of Alberta in 2009.
