Magick: An Evening with Aleister Crowley
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. TacoTown Theatre Company and The Overtime Theater are proud to present a return engagement of the world premiere production of Magick: An Evening with Aleister Crowley written and performed by solo theatre artist Jade Esteban Estrada.

Enter the capricious mind of Aleister Crowley as he takes his guests on a dark, irreverent journey of his notorious life as the leader of 20th century occultism and ceremonial magick. Dubbed by the press as The Wickedest Man in the World, Crowley, who referred to himself as The Great Beast 666, founded his own religious order and his works have been credited with ushering in the New Age movement. An icon of popular culture, he was included as one of the figures on the cover art of The Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and was the subject of Ozzy Osbournes song entitled Mr. Crowley. Traveling the world in search of spiritual enlightenment, he spent his days writing numerous books and designed his own Tarot Cards that are still in use today. In his rage against Christianity, Crowleys essential philosophy, Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Love is the law, love under will, is a belief that frames his prophesy that has seemingly come to pass, though many believe it has yet to be completely fulfilled.

Magick is a 60-minute musical comedy that circles the life and work of Aleister Crowley, considered by many to be one of the most important occult figures of the 20th century. Book, music and lyrics by Estrada, a man who spent most of his performance career portraying some of the most famous people in the history of Western civilization through his widely-traveled solo musicals.

Magick is the 21st solo show performed by Estrada, who began his solo theatre career at Jump-Start Performance Company in 1997 with is self-penned production of Its Too LateIts Already in Me. Estrada has spent his career bringing stories of such historical figures to life on stage, such as Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein and Tennessee Williams. He is the sole creator of 17 original solo shows including A Lullaby for Ryan: The History of HIV/AIDS in America and ICONS: The Lesbian & Gay History of the World, Vol. 1 which he performed at The Overtime earlier in June 2018 in observance of National LGBTQ Pride Month.

Other solo performances in San Antonio have included The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs at the Woodlawn Theatre in 2013 and The Kindness of Strangers at Woodlawn Pointe in January of this year. Jade Esteban Estrada knows how to fill the stage all by himself, writes The San Antonio Current.
