J.S. Bach's "Christmas Oratorio"
The Christmas Oratorio (Weihnachts-Oratorium), BWV 248, composed at the height of the Baroque period and eight years before Handel's Messiah, tells the Christmas story in a most impassioned setting of chorales, fugues, recitatives and solos. Sinfonia Sacra, our own professional orchestra consisting of Wisconsin's finest orchestral players, will accompany the choir.
The Wisconsin Chamber Choir first performed the oratorio in 2002 to sellout audience and again in 2003. We bring back the performance as part of our 20th Anniversary at Madison's beautiful Luther Memorial Church, 1021 University Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin.
