True Story Theater - Public Shows
Stories of Invisible Identities Saturday, October 6, 2018, 7:30-9:15pm
The Arlington Center (yoga studios) 369 Massachusetts Ave., Arlington, MA The space is wheelchair accessible
Important aspects of our identity may not be evident to others. Examples of invisible identities we can explore are religion, class background, military service, mixed race, sexual orientation, political beliefs, chronic pain, and more. In this performance, we'll explore the impact of having important parts of ourselves hidden - and how things change when they become known to others.
HOW IT WORKS: In each True Story performance, volunteers from the audience tell their own true story on the theme with help from the shows conductor. Then the audience watches as our actors portray the heart of what they heard using music, movement, and dialogue. From this simple interaction, people laugh, cry, share fresh insights, create deeper connections, and gain a renewed appreciation for our common humanity. Anyone is welcome to share a personal story on the theme or just watch the performance.
