Courtly Love: A Users Guide
The medieval ideal of courtly love permeated the poetry of the age so thoroughly that, if it hadnt existed, its hard to see what they would have sung about. The overwhelming preponderance of songs about love in our own culture is merely an extension of medieval norms. Medieval love songs contain elements so universal that they could almost constitute a how-to guide for the conduct of romantic relationships among the nobility. In this concert, we will learn to follow instructions.
