Abby Zotz Local Honey Launch Concert
"Heartwarming and real" (T. Barr, Simple Moments, Lunenberg) is what you always get from gifted vocal artist and musician Abby Zotz, but this brand new solo CD Local Honey takes her soulful melodic folk-pop to soaring heights. And there's no better place to celebrate than the acoustically and historically rich space of Kingston Road United Church in Toronto's east end. Abby will be joined onstage by her Honey of a Band, including Joel Saunders (bass), Chris Saunders (guitars and use), Bryden Chernoff (drums), Anna Marie Therrien and Anne Gingras (vocals). Recorded and produced by Steve Sherman at his studio just down the road from the launch location, Local Honey is a collection of originals (many co-written with Abby's former Two Roads Home partner, Bryan Williston) and one beloved cover. It's a satisfying union of wistful pop blended with folk, blues, jazz and gospel, all delivered by an experienced artisan in a voice that's authentic and pure, with a time-won edge that adds honesty and depth to every song.
Join Abby, her Honey of a Band, and special guests Steve Sherman, Chris Rawlings and members of Shout Sister Choir -the event will also feature work by local artist Peter Finney (also the art director for Local Honey) and jars of the golden nectar itself - for a beautiful evening that honours the artisanal spirit, with songs of mature love, human-to-human inspiration and the stories we create when we refuse to give up hope.
