Looking at the Future and the Needs of their Citizens"
This joint presentation will cover the recent AV and Drone Proving Ground activities, the Chula Vista Smart City Strategic Plan, and the various related projects underway in the City.
BIOS:
Bill Valle's career with the City began in 2012 when he became the City of Chula Vista's City Engineer. Bill brought more than 29 years' extensive experience and increasing levels of responsibility in the public sector to the City of Chula Vista. His broad background includes experience in every phase of the development of Capital Improvement Projects, as well as the maintenance and operations of transportation infrastructure.
In 2017, Bill became Director of Engineering and Capital Projects/City Engineer. He is responsible for developing and delivering the City's Capital Improvement Program and overseeing various divisions, including Advanced Planning, Design, Surveying, Waste and Storm Water Engineering, Traffic Engineering and Operations, Construction Inspection and Facilities Engineering. Bill leads a team of 52 City employees, including civil engineers, managers, finance professionals, technicians and various other staff and consultants committed to providing well designed and constructed City infrastructure and facilities.
Bill previously served as the Chief Deputy District Director, District 11 for Caltrans. There he was responsible for the Maintenance, Traffic Operations, Design, Surveys, and Engineering divisions, overseeing over 740 employees and an operating budget of $84 Million.
Bill is a registered Professional Civil Engineer and graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is an active member of the American Public Works Association and Institute of Transportation Engineers.
Eddie Flores has a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from SDSU and is an ITE Fellow. He has over 22 years of public agency experience in the traffic engineering field, including traffic operations, traffic signal design/operations, telecommunications, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). As the City Traffic Engineer for the City of Chula Vista, Eddie oversees the Traffic Engineering Division which includes traffic signal operations, TMC, traffic operations, traffic control permitting, and traffic signal/street light maintenance teams. He lives in Chula Vista.
