David Olney & Sergio Webb - Shitty Barn Session No. 076
We do a lot of gum-flapping and jaw-swayin' about Americana and song-writing here at Barn Central. We also support both the local and national student-body of the craft on a regular basis. But it's not often we get to host the been-there done-that veterans of the Real Deal Wars. Robert Hilburn of The Los Angeles Times referred to Olney as the "Best songwriter you've never heard of", and the late-great Townes Van Zandt included him in his list of favorite writers alongside Mozart, Lightnin' Hopkins and Bob Dylan. That's some pretty fine company. Add to that the following: Olney's songs have been covered by Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Johnny Cash and Linda Ronstadt. Olney appears with his long-time touring pardner, guitarist Sergio Webb.
