ABOUT PITTANCE CHAMBER MUSIC
Among the most extraordinary musicians in the world are those you seldom see - the musicians of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra. Artistic Director Lisa Sutton created Pittance Chamber Music in 2013 to shine the spotlight on these remarkable yet invisible artists, bringing them from the pit to the stage to perform in small ensembles, hence the name Pittance. The roster of artists is drawn from a large pool of talent that includes members of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra and Los Angeles Opera resident vocalists, performing a unique variety of chamber music repertoire not often heard together in one program. Pittance celebrates the 2018-19 Fifth Anniversary Season with three exciting programs at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music:

AN AFTERNOON WITH JOHN WALZ AND FRIENDS
Sunday, September 30 at 3 p.m.

Join cellist John Walz as he celebrates his illustrious and wide-ranging career as a soloist and chamber music performer, and over 30 years of performances as Principal Cello with the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra. Walz will be joined by his colleagues from the orchestras cello section, Principal Bass Nathan Farrington and the Pacific Trio, for a program of works by Bach, Wagner, Rossini, Corigliano and Gershwin.

PIANO QUARTETS WITH ROBERT THIES
Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m.

This extraordinary afternoon of chamber music features internationally-acclaimed concert pianist Robert Thies and members of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra in a program including piano quartets by Mozart and Fauré, and Beethoven's dynamic String Trio in C minor, Op. 9, No. 3.

EVENSONG WITH JOSHUA WHEEKER
Sunday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m.

Experience Evensong, an evening offering of beloved works by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Johannes Brahms, with Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist tenor Joshua Wheeker, members of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra and pianist Paul Floyd.
