RAC Presents Frisson Ensemble
Jeremías Sergiani Velázquez, violin
Caeli Smith, viola and Associate Director
Julian Schwarz, cello
Ji Weon Ryu, flute
Thomas Gallant, oboe and Artistic Director
Stas Chernyshev, clarinet

The Frisson Ensemble is explosive! From New York City, the chamber ensemble features the best and brightest of classical music's rising stars drawn from many of the nation's major music schools including Juilliard, Curtis, and Yale. With its flexible grouping, Frisson is able to showcase a myriad of rarely-performed masterworks.  An ensemble of six are touring the west coast and Redwood Arts is indeed lucky to have been able to book them.

The musicians in brief:
Jeremías Sergiani-Velázquez, violin
The Argentinean violinist was awarded First Prize at the Argentinean Hebrew Foundation Competition and two competitions at the New England Conservatory Honors Ensemble. He has performed with the renowned Orpheus Chamber Orchestra at Carnegie Hall and in Germany, as well as throughout the US and in Canada.

Caeli Smith, viola
Called "intense, precise, and full of personality" by OperaClick, Caeli has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the BBC Proms. A winner of the Juilliard concerto competition, Caeli appeared as a soloist with The Juilliard Orchestra in Alice Tully Hall.

Julian Schwarz, cello
Born into a musical family, cellist Julian Schwarz made his orchestral debut at the age of 11 playing the Saint-Saens Concerto No. 1 with the Seattle Symphony. He has appeared with the Seattle, San Diego, Puerto Rico, Columbus (OH), Syracuse, Virginia, Sarasota, Grand Rapids, Omaha, Wichita and Modesto symphonies among others.

Ji Weon Ryu, flute
Flutist Ji Weon Ryu holds Bachelors and Masters degree programs from The Juilliard School. During her studies, she played in the Juilliard Orchestra and worked with many leading conductors. In 2014, she was chosen as one of two principal flutists to participate in New York String Orchestra Seminar, which performed in Carnegie Hall.

Thomas Gallant, oboe and Artistic Director
The New Yorker praised him as a player who unites technical mastery with intentness, charm and wit. His performances have taken him to Avery Fisher Hall and Weill Recital Hall in New York City, to Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, to the Spoleto Festival in Italy, and to the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center.

Stas Chernyshev, clarinet
Mr. Chernyshev has appeared in concerts at the Kimmel Center, Carnegie Hall, St. Petersburg State Academic Capella and St. Petersburg Philarmonia. He participates in the concert programs of Mariinsky Clarinet Club and was regular participant of the St. Petersburg House of Music project, and Curtis on Tour.
