"Gentle Temper invites you to celebrate their homecoming and the official release of their first studio single, Ancient Tattoos at the first venue they ever played as a band almost two years ago! Joining them will be the vibrant duo Hawthorn and the cellist and singer Laura Wolf Schatz who uses live looping, effect pedals and various instruments to weave a penetrating world of sound
Gentle Temper is Ryan Meier and Marion Earley, an ocean-folk duo with a blues tide from the bayous of Boston, MA. Marion and Ryan met while attending college in Boston and began writing and playing together in August of 2016. Their live sound builds on a sturdy foundation of lyrical storytelling, animated harmonies, & a current of dynamics.
GT_ have opened for nationally touring acts LOLO, Ballroom Thieves, Bombadil, and 2014 NPR Favorite new artist The Family Crest. They've had the pleasure of performing in support of various charities and foundations, including the Chikumbuso Women and Orphans Project, Casa Myrna Vazquez Inc., and Relay for Life.
The pair released their debut EP Sleep It Off: The Live EP in December of 2017 alongside a coinciding documentary-style video. They spent much of 2017 and 2018 writing, recording, and preparing for the release of their debut full-length LP, due to be released to the public in September, 2018."
The women of Hawthorn weave melodic layers into harmonies pulled from traditional folk roots. Their mutual love of the natural world, storytelling, and community moves them to create music colored by both external and internal landscapes. Through the meeting of Hawthorn's individual experiences emerge magical blends of sound that are passionately full: of vibrancy, of heart, of strength.
"Cellist and singer Laura Wolf Schatz uses live looping, effect pedals and various instruments to weave a penetrating world of sound. Having performed with various contemporary and classical ensembles, her debut solo EP Stitch One (2017) was met with critical praise, deemed "beautifully immersive" and "distinctly enchanting" by Gold Flake Paint. She is currently workshopping her newest work bridging spacious experimentalism with pop driven songs. She is Brooklyn based and has performed as a touring/live member of various ensembles, most recently Matt Pond PA."
