American Voices
In their final concert of the season, the Valley Symphony Orchestra presents a potpourri of much-loved masterworks and rarely heard musical gems. You will delight in the sounds of Aaron Copland (excerpts from Billy the Kid and Rodeo), the melodic genius of Richard Rodgers (a medley of tunes from The Sound of Music), our rich patriotic traditions exemplified in the music of Dudley Buck (Festival Overture on the American Hymn "The Star-Spangled Banner"), and the romantic intoxication of George Chadwick (Euterpe). In addition, you will experience the clarinet wizardry of Drs. Robert Spring and Julia Heinen in the premiere of the orchestral version of Scott McAllister's Freebirds.
Truly, this is a concert that celebrates the rich and wonderful tradition of art music in the United States. And it is one you will want to share with the whole family!!!
