City Cantabile Choir 25th Anniversary Concert
This concert will feature choral music from coffee and cocoa lands--rarely heard arrangements from Ghana, Kenya, Hawaii, Cuba and Brazil. This concert will partially benefit the poorest of coffee workers in the world.
City Cantabile has enjoyed 25 years of performing multicultural music, as well as classic choral masterpieces of Western Culture. From presenting the premiere of the Missa Luba (African Mass) to joint performances with the Dave Brubeck Quartet and the flamenco artist Paco Pena, the choir has brought the musical language of the globe to Seattle.
Under Fred West's direction, the choir has also been a champion of the environment with many of Mr. West's original compositions reflecting deep reverence for the beauty of the earth. His oratorio, "Upon This Land," has been performed often for Earth Day events and is a musical call for action to protect all ecosystems.
