Six Combines- Opening night
Six Combines - an intermedia work by Michael Masaru Flora and Christian Langheinrich that investigates the relationship between sound, physical objects and the spaces they occupy. The piece employs sculptural assemblage, performance, and sound synthesis; encouraging an examination of their points of contact.

Christian Langheinrich was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1970. He has lived all over the the lower 48, and began his first experiments with electronics and sound as a teenager living in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas. He studied acting at the Goodman School of Theatre in Chicago, Literature at the University of Illinois and Indiana University, and creative writing at Columbia College, Chicago. His interests in theater, text and performance have always centered on conceptual and experimental works, which eventually brought him back to sound, which has been his main interest for the past two decades. Christians current practice explores, among other things, complexity and constant transformation of sound, with the hope of creating a unique, narrative experience in the listener. His work is hardware based, utilizing samplers, modular synthesizers and, more recently, microphones. He has released work on the Dream Disc label (as Pooch Karton), composed music for film and theater, and is currently working on two new compositions which he hopes to finish by the end of 2018. Christian tries to sleep outside at least a month every year, the nighttime sounds of nature being his favorite source of inspiration.

Michael Flora is a Minneapolis-based sound artist. His interest is in the exploration of sound via research and artistic practice. Working within the intersections of art, science, music, and mathematics, he creates pieces that examine sonic morphology, spatialization, and human perception. Composition is realized through a combination of various digital synthesis methods and processing of recorded sounds. Work is often presented in site-specific multi-channel installations and performances which reveal the unique sonic footprint of the space and allows for the choreography of sound through speaker placement and animation of movement. Floras practice has included recording, performance, installation, video, choreography, and curatorial projects. His work has been presented at Stanford Universitys Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA), St Cloud State University (Minnesota) as well as clubs, galleries, theaters, warehouses, and universities throughout North America. His latest recording Xi was published by Minnesota-based label Sympathy Limited.
