BEAVERQ
Beaver Island State Park will be host to Grand Island's 1st Barbecue Competition...the BEAVERQ. This ticket is a judging certificate, it's possession entitles you to a judge card where you are challenged to SAMPLE AND JUDGE 8 teams pork shoulder. You will try each teams BBQ offering and then pick your 3 favorites. Stay for awards to see if your teams take home the awards!!!
The BEAVERQ is part of the Grand Island Festival and BBQ Competition. Profits to benefit Grand Island Farms and other Grand Island Not for Profit Organizations.

The Festival features:
-Rib and Porkchop BBQ Competition with 24 Barbecue teams
-People's Choice BBQ Competition with 24 Barbecue teams (1230-3PM)
-Turtle Race (Rubber Ducky Race) - race your winning rubber turtle in the Lagoon for prizes
-Local craft brews in the Beer Tent
-Local Craft Vendors
-Farmers Market
-Food: Vendors serving great a la carte BBQ and summer fare starting at 11am
-Live Music (11am-7pm)
-Party on the Beach and MUCH MORE
PEOPLE'S CHOICE JUDGING
This is the a contest where YOU are the judge! You buy your card, pick your top three favorites and see if your teams win!
JUDGING VOUCHERS
The judging vouchers are for sale here on Brown Paper Tickets (and soon at local establishments). A voucher is needed to be a judge in the competition. The judging fee covers the cost of the contest and includes a donation. THIS FEE GUARANTEES YOUR SPOT AS A JUDGE.
You must bring this voucher with you to the contest. It will be traded for your judging card where you rate BBQ from 8 professional Barbecue teams.
Each team will present you with a 2-3 ounce sample of smoked pork shoulder. With eight teams, you will receive, eat and judge around a pound to a pound and a half of awesome competition-quality BBQ. As a judge you will circle your three favorite teams, and turn your card into the ballot deposit box.
Judging runs from 1230pm to 3pm. Judging closes promptly at 3:15pm. This is only a voucher to be a Peoples Choice judge in the BBQ contest.
