On Island
Synopsis: An August day in the life of North Haven island in Maine, On Island follows two families, one native islanders and one summer people. They work in a boat yard; they picnic and bicker. They plan birthday parties and hide their secrets, always minding each other's business. A stranger from away enters and shows how each person is an element in the whole community. Hopes and dreams are expressed through song, with music from established musicians Elvis Perkins and David Saw, and North Haven natives the Toughcats and Courtney Naliboff. With a large cast ranging through all ages, the play is about the particular ties that bind people to an island and to each other.
