Concerts in the Courtyard presents Songwriters in the Round with John Finan, Ben Hassenger, Jaime Marvin, and Sharon Tse
John Finan is a singer/songwriter/guitarist based in the Detroit area, known for his mix of introspective and humorous songwriting, as well as his improvisational guitar work.
Ben Hassenger is known as Michigans Ukulele Ambassador with a wide range of songs and subjects about love, food, dogs, baseball, and the other important things in life.
Jaime Marvin has a diverse repertoire, and her musical influences are from a vast array of genres, but somehow she is able to pull a unique element out of each of those to create her own flavor. Jaime is, in a word, raw . . . what you see is what you get. When she plays, her music touches your soul; she feels every chord, every note, and so do you.
Detroit-born artist Sharon Tse has been making music from the time she could hold a guitar in her hands. Influences of jazz, folk, pop and the Great American Songbook can be heard in her music, but her distinctive fingerstyle playing, and ability to tell stories though intelligent acoustic music set her apart as a guitarist and singer-songwriter.
Concerts in the Courtyard is an eclectic series of musical concerts featuring some of the finest musicians in the state and from across the country. All shows are held on Thursday evenings in the great-sounding and beautiful flower-lined courtyard behind the Old Town General Store. (Tickets are $15/$9 students and available in advance at the store and at the door. A portion of the proceeds benefit Music is the Foundation, supporting music programs in Mid-Michigan classrooms and communities. Heres a nice article and interview about our concerts from Eva Niehouse, an MSU student. http://greaterlansingnews.com/2015/04/30/old-town-general-store-takes-the-stage/
