Pinehurst & 62nd Annual Stoneybrook Steeplechase

Derby Day comes a bit early when you join us for a fun day of shopping, lunch and horse racing. Dressed in our best plus a lovely hat, we depart Raleigh for a drive to The Village of Pinehurst. With a short time for shopping, we will hit the highlights and then enjoy a delicious lunch made of fresh local ingredients from North Carolina. Then we depart for a short ride to the races.

The Village of Pinehurst: This New England style village was built in 1895 and offers a terrific place to stroll along the sidewalk and mosey through little boutiques. One of our favorites is Green Gates Olive Oils where one learns to pair any of the 200 oils and balsamic vinegars.

Elliotts: For Mark Elliott, Chef/Owner of Elliotts on Linden, the small parcels of farm land that dot the Carolina countryside are as essential to life as air and water. For from them comes the foundation for his philosophy of cooking: to share the very best regionally grown and raised agricultural products with the widest possible audience.

Today, customers can experience the fruit of Southern farmers' labors in Chef Elliott's world-class cuisine. Every plate and every recipe is crafted with the freshest cuts of meat, the most delightful artisan dairy products, and a careful selection of the tastiest, most honest delights available in the region.

The 62nd running of the Stoneybrook Steeplechase is the official rite of spring in the Sandhills. The Carolina Horse Park is located on 250 acres and Stoneybrook offers a day in the country to thousands of spectators. The thrill and beauty of horse racing as well as enjoying a day with friends is an event not to be missed.
