Nov 24: Laila Biali with opener Andrea Nixon
Canadian pianist and vocalist Laila Biali has toured with an impressive array of musicians - Chris Botti, Dave Brubeck, Diana Krall, Paula Cole, and Suzanne Vega and has recorded and toured with Sting. She is releasing her sixth album on January 26th 2018 but this one is significantly self titled, to which she says it unites all the facets of me as an artist: pianist, singer. arranger, composer, a devotee of jazz and of other genres. With this album I feel I have truly arrived
Lailas new album brings us a stunning collection of original material along with three entrancing covers of the music of David Bowie, Coldplay and Randy Newman. Although sitting under the heading of Jazz, Lailas music gives us a wonderful mixture of indie, pop, blues, soul with its roots clearly in Jazz. We caught up with Laila in the midst of the frantic and exciting period of album launch preparation.
