THE GLADIOLUS @ Presidio
The Gladiolus is a crime/thriller directed by Delgerbayar Purevdorj, who is a native
Mongolian with a few movie directing experience under his belt. His movies Love Crime
(2013)- drama/suspense, Public Enemy (2009) action/crime were a smashing hit when
they were released. He is a graduate of Bers University of Film Art in Ulaanbaatar,
Mongolia and has been working as an actor and director in the field.
Delgerbayar Purevdorj always challenges himself in different genre of films. But he
writes and directs mostly thriller. One of his short films Intruder, which he made for the
48HFP in Mongolia, was selected to be in Cannes - Short Film Corner in 2012 and he said
The film art requires us filmmakers to be creative, but to be creative, one must challenge
himself. I liked participating in 48HFP Mongolia, because you are against, other teams with
exact given times to make short film and only your creative mind and well organized team
can help you accomplish something extraordinary
The Gladiolus is about a single working mother, who accidentally kills her daughters
drug dealer boyfriend and knowing that no one will look after her two children, she decides
to get away with a perfect murder. Delgerbayar portrayed, what mothers would do to protect
thier children, when they are in a no escape situation. The cinematography is well
established with the landscapes of Mongolia. It is a must watch movie with great acting and
strong story line.
