Mendelssohn's Elijah
The Omaha Symphonic Chorus, accompanied by Orchestra Omaha, is proud to present Felix Mendelssohn's biblical oratorio Elijah. The concert will be held at First United Methodist Church, 7020 Cass Street, Omaha, NE at 3:00 pm May 6, 2018.

Mendelssohn wrote the biblical oratorio Elijah in 1846. It is a masterfully written piece of music telling a compelling story of Elijah. It recounts the struggles of Elijah with King Ahab who has decreed that all should worship the false god Baal. It tells the story of disastrous drought, fire from heaven, and redemption. It illuminates the relationship of the Jewish people with the God of Abraham. Text comes from I Kings and a dozen or more other old testament books.
