Sound Circle: Certain Drops of Salt at The Arts Hub
Why do we like it when people are brought to tears by our concerts? Why do people want to tell us our singing made them cry? Why does it feel like a good thing when someone who has been stoic finally lets tears flow? We in Sound Circle have talked about tears: Tears come when I hear or say the truest thing. Tears come when the music is too beautiful not to weep. When tears come, I dont always know why. Its like tapping into a well.
Tears are about sorrow, grief, anger, joy, hilarity, beauty, connection, catharsis, healing, cleansing, opening, relief, aliveness. Tears are about truth.
This is a little gem of a concert: beautiful, deep, tender. It's a concert premised on the idea that in this time where the concept of truth is under assault, we might all find that attending to the truths contained by and expressed in tears could help us find our way, as a society and as individuals.
